Robert Martin is recent graduate of Elon University School of Law (2018), where he received the Presidential Scholarship and was a member of the Moot Court Board. His course of study at Elon focused on contract theory, drafting, and the Uniform Commercial Code. During law school, Robert completed a residency program at the Elon Law Small Business and Entrepreneurship Clinic where he gained a passion for advising business owners and providing legal services to meet their needs. Following that experience, Robert spent the remaining year of his time in law school as an intern on the in-house legal team at Gilbarco Inc., a global leader in the retail fuel industry. At Gilbarco, Robert gained valuable experience in a broad spectrum of business law matters, including contract drafting and negotiations, intellectual property, corporate compliance and investigations, and litigation.
In addition to earning a J.D., Robert completed an undergraduate degree at Appalachian State University in 2007 (B.A. English) and a graduate program at Wake Forest University School of Divinity in 2012 (M.Div.).
Before going to law school, Robert served as the director of youth ministries at Guilford College UMC in Greensboro, NC for six years. In that role, he provided pastoral care and spiritual guidance to youth and families; leading 18 mission trips, coaching basketball teams, and working closely with the Greensboro community. He carries that pastoral background into his approach with clients in the legal field.
Robert is an endurance sports enthusiast, having thru-hiked the entire Appalachian Trail in 2009, completed the TransAmerica Bike Trail in 2010, and finishing an Ironman 70.3 triathlon. He and his wife live in Greensboro, NC and are the proud parents of two young daughters.
